Part 3 in the Bath
It’s time to add more water in the bath
Once you and your child are comfortable with the various exercises and back float you will add more water in the bath to give your baby the true sensation of floating independently while in the water. This exercise should take about 10 minutes.
- Fill the bath so that the water will just cover your legs when you are sitting down (approximately 6 inches)
- Start by doing the breath control exercise with the cup.
- Move on to the back float by giving your child the cues learned in previous lesson.
- Always start with only a 5 second float, take a break and repeat 2 more times.
- Blow bubbles, sign songs, have fun
- Repeat the back float up to 10 seconds. Take a break and repeat 2 more times.
- Take a break, interact with your child and have fun signing songs and blowing bubbles.
- Repeat the back float this time for 15 or even 20 seconds if you child is able to do it.
- Finish on a positive note and give your child lots of praise.
